How international collaboration is shaping the next generation of experts in agriculture, livestock farming, and biodiversity conservation.
The project’s training offer will combine a general educational module with three specialized tracks: sustainable agriculture, sustainable livestock farming, and biodiversity conservation. These modules will be tested through an international summer school, designed not only for students but also for professionals seeking to expand their skills in these critical areas.
To design an educational program that truly meets local priorities, GreenTraINT conducted a detailed needs analysis in January 2025. A total of 84 participants—including students, researchers, educators, NGOs, and community members—provided valuable input through a structured questionnaire.
The results highlighted a strong interest in agriculture, with over 80% of respondents considering this area essential for the future of the country. Biodiversity conservation and animal husbandry were also recognized as key fields requiring updated skills and knowledge. Respondents expressed a clear preference for in-person workshops and hybrid courses that combine online and face-to-face learning.
Another important finding is that access to technology is not a major obstacle in Seychelles: most participants have reliable internet access, as well as smartphones or laptops, which makes modern e-learning methods feasible. However, challenges remain, particularly the lack of specialized training, financial constraints, and the growing impact of climate change on local food production.
